ANAHEIM, Calif. – Crest Coating, Inc., an Anaheim company specializing in industrial powder coating and functional liquid coatings, announced on October 15, 2026, that it has earned AS9100D certification from Amtivo. This certification signifies the company's adherence to stringent quality management standards for suppliers to the aviation, space, and defense sectors.
The new certification specifically covers Crest Coating's application of powder, Teflon, Xylan®, Halar®, and BCS bakeware coatings. This achievement positions the company to expand its capabilities for critical aerospace and defense programs, according to the announcement.
AS9100D is a specialized quality management standard developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group. It builds upon the widely recognized ISO 9001 standard by incorporating additional requirements crucial for aerospace and defense suppliers. These include strict mandates for product safety, detailed traceability of components, comprehensive risk management strategies, prevention of counterfeit parts, and consistent on-time delivery. Aerospace manufacturers and their suppliers often require this certification as a prerequisite for approving companies to work on flight hardware and defense initiatives.
Jeff Erickson, CEO of Crest Coating, highlighted the significant effort involved in achieving the certification. He stated that the company's team spent “eight months building a quality system” to meet the rigorous standards aerospace customers expect from critical suppliers. Erickson noted that for customers, this certification means the coating work performed is supported by documented traceability, rigorous inspection processes, and systems designed to identify potential issues before they reach the client. He expressed pride in the team's accomplishment and confirmed their readiness to support more aerospace and defense programs.
Operating from a production space exceeding 50,000 square feet in Anaheim, Crest Coating serves a diverse range of industries. Its customer base includes companies in aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, electronics, and industrial markets. The company's extensive capabilities also encompass dry-film lubricant, high-temperature, and conformal coatings.
Beyond the new AS9100D certification, Crest Coating holds other significant accreditations. These include ISO 9001:2015 certification, a Chemours Licensed Industrial Applicator designation, approval as an applicator for Whitford Xylan®, and recognition as a Tiger Drylac 5-Star CARC applicator.
